An Introduction to DFINITYNodes

What Is DFINITYNodes?
Have you ever been intrigued by the idea of hosting a Node on the Internet Computer, only to find out Node Hardware is far out of your price range, Upfront Datacenter Fees can be extremely expensive, and hosting a Node requires a bit of technical experience? DFINITYNodes is a Community Initiative that now offers a solution to the high entry costs and technical barriers of hosting a Node on the Internet Computer.
DFINITYNodes does this by crowd-funding through a DAO, by leveraging NFTs as “Shares” — which allows users to pool funds together, to get involved in hosting Nodes as a collective — which is then managed by the DFINITYNodes Team, who are governed by the Boardroom, and invested in Internet Computer Node Hardware.
What’s DFINITYNodes Goal?
DFINITYNodes’ goal is to contribute to the further Decentralization of the Internet Computer. We’ll do this by exponentially increasing the number of Unique Node Providers, by offering affordable entry costs, and no-hassle nodes, through the DFINITYNodes DAO.

Three-Year Vision
- At least one Internet Computer Node hosted in each Continent
- At least 100 Nodes hosted through the DFINITYNodes DAO

Ten-Year Vision
- At least one Internet Computer Node hosted in each Country
- At least 1000 Nodes hosted through the DFINITYNodes DAO
- 70% of all Internet Computer Nodes hosted outside of North America
- 2,500,000 Unique Node Providers through the DFINITYNodes DAO
How does DFINITYNodes work?
The DFINITYNodes DAO is a dApp built on the Internet Computer, that is public, but can be accessed with third-party wallet dApps (Plug Wallet and Stoic Wallet are currently supported). The DFINITYNodes DAO begins at the Crowd-Funding Stage, in which Internet Computer Users mint Node Share NFTs for a Generation with ICP (A “Generation” represents a single Crowd-Funding Event and the Nodes within it.) From this point, the ICP is sent directly to the corresponding Generations Treasury, until the Generation’s details are proposed. The Internet Computer User is now left with Node Shares, which can be staked within the Boardroom. The Boardroom is the staking platform within the DFINITYNodes DAO and allows Node Share-Holders to participate in Governance over their respective Generation. Node Shares that are staked within the Boardroom then share the Node Rewards minted by Internet Computer Nodes, for their contributions to the DAO.
The DFINITYNodes DAO also offers the Share Marketplace, which allows users to freely trade their Node Shares with others. The Share Marketplace also utilizes a Burn Mechanism. This Mechanism uses 5% of a Generation’s Node Rewards, while also deducting 2.5% / Transaction in the Share Marketplace, to purchase the floor of the respective Generation’s Share Marketplace. The Shares that are accumulated, are then burnt by the DFINITYNodes DAO — introducing a deflationary aspect to the total supply of Node Shares.
